AWS Launches International Local Zones in Taipei and Delhi

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of its international Local Zones in Delhi and Taipei.

AWS now has 19 AWS Local Zones around the world, with announced plans to launch 31 more Local Zones globally over the next two years.

“AWS Local Zones allow you to run applications that require low latency for use cases such as online gaming, hybrid migrations, media and entertainment content creation, live video streaming, engineering simulations, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and machine learning inference at the edge. AWS Local Zones can also help you meet data residency requirements in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, and the public sector,” the company said in a release.

At the beginning of this year, AWS announced plans to launch AWS Local Zones in an additional 33 metro areas across 27 countries. This first international expansion of AWS Local Zones brings AWS infrastructure closer to millions of end users.

AWS Local Zones are also generally available in 16 metro areas in the US (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, and Seattle).
